Step by Step 15 Minute Mummy Manicure

For all new mums, time is a luxury most of us just don't have, so I thought I'd give you a step by step 15 minute manicure guide, that you might be able to squeeze into that chaotic schedule. I have barely had chance to file my nails in the last 10 weeks, so it was so nice to pamper my poor, overworked paws, while little baby Isabelle snoozed in her pram. I was sent a beautiful No7 gold-bronze polish by the lovely people at Boots, which prompted me to finally sort out my grubby looking paws. Here is how to do it, and what I used.

Step 1. Get everything you need to hand, I normally forget something crucial and end up digging around in a bag for cotton wool, mid polish, and ruin the whole production.
Step 2. Trim, and then file dry nails into shape. I love CND Kanga emery boards, as they are not to gritty and they last so well. (2mins)
Step 3. Get yourself a bowl of warm water and add a few pumps of your favourite moisturising hand wash. I used Carex.

Step 4. Apply a cuticle conditioner and then soak your paws in the warm soapy water for a few minutes. I like Boots No7 Nourishing Nail & Cuticle Care, but a dab of olive oil on each nail and cuticle would work just as well. (3mins)
Step 5. Pat hands dry, and use a cuticle pushie or orange stick to gently push back cuticles. (2mins)

Step 6. Carefully trim off any dead cuticle with your nippers. Don't go crazy with this! Be cautious, the cuticle is important for keeping nasties out. (3mins)

Step 7. Apply an exfoliator, I used Nulon Hand Treatment Scrub, rub it in for 30 seconds and rinse well under warm water. Pat hands dry. (1.5mins)

Step 8. Massage hands using your favourite hand cream, and then quickly swipe nails with polish remover, to get rid of any leftover oils (1.5mins), optionally, if you have more time to spare and want a real moisture boost, slather hands in the hand cream, wrap in a towel for 5mins, then remove with a warm, damp flannel.

Step 9. Now it's time to apply polish, or if you want to use base coat, apply this first. I used No7 So Smooth base coat as my nails are quite ridgy, then followed with No7 Stay Perfect in Golden Palms. (I've left you a whole 2mins for this! Good luck!)
Finished Results:

Enjoy your pampering! Love,

Edie xx
