Baby Bee - Natural Baby Products from Burt's Bees

Natural and 'nearly' natural cosmetics and skincare products are becoming much more readily available in the mass market. My local Debenhams stocks a wide range of Burt's Bees products. My other half, treated our daughter to a couple of Baby Bee (98.79% natural) products when she was born. I thought I'd write a little review of them, for parents that prefer to 'go natural' when buying their babies toiletries.

Babies skin is so delicate, and the new health guidelines recommend not to use bathing products on newborns skin for 6 weeks after delivery. They have natural flora on their skin, that baby toiletries strip away. I personally think I would have had a very stinky baby, if I'd only washed her with water for 6 weeks, as babies seem to stash dribbled milk in every nook and crannie (of which they have many!). My daughter, Isabelle, had very dry skin, which is common for babies that are overdue. Izzie was 11 days overdue, so her skin needed lots of moisturising. The Baby Bee 'nearly natural' products were a good alternative to traditional baby toiletries, so I gave them a try.

The two products we chose were Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash and Baby Bee Buttermilk Lotion which came as a 2 part set for around £18.00. Both products are over 96% natural and contain no Parabens, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate or Phthalate (whatever that is). Their range of products is just gorgeous, lots of lovely lotions, washes an oils (Mama Bee Apricot Body Oil) for mums-to-be and delicate new baby bums. Their products are around the £7.00-£10.00 mark, so a bit on the pricey side, but well worth a try.

The Hair and Body wash creates a gorgeous smelling sudsy lather, and you only need the tiniest amount. Coconut and Sunflower oils, Soy Protein and Sugar Esters are what create this all in one baby wash, and it leaves baby skin so soft and smelling of honey, coconut and vanilla. It is pH babanced and claims to be tear free (but lets not test that theory, eh!), and I love the stuff. The only negative is it is a little bit sticky, due to all the sugars in it, and if you use a bit too much your baby may have a little bit of sticky soap residue on his or her skin.

Finally, The Buttermilk Lotion. This is a milky lotion that is soothing and hydrating for babies (and my) skin, and not greasy at all. You can smell that this is a nearly 100% natural product, it has a kind of earthy undertone (in a good way). Buttermilk, Aloe Vera, Beeswax and Sweet Orange, are just some of the yummy ingredients in this lotion. It is a great product for giving your baby a soothing massage after a bath, it gives just enough slip and glide, before absorbing into the skin.

I like knowing that the products I use on my kids delicate skin don't contain nasties. It always helps if they smell great too! I hope you and your kids like these products too! What products do you use on your precious little angels?

Love Edie xx
